This filter has around 5k miles on it. I like it a lot.

A couple of days ago I removed the filter to have a look at it, and noticed that a 2" chunk of the rubber seal broke off the filter.

This rubber apparently is not very durable. It breaks off like nerfball foam. I'm not sure if I still have a positive seal in the air box after this chunk broke off.

I ordered it direct from Amsoil. I guess I have to call the tech dept. and then send it back.

That will work. You can get them to email you a short form.

You found the rubber that broke off yes???

I would not want that being sucked up into my air intake. .

The rubber that broke free was jammed down into the bottom groove of the air box where it seals against the top side of the box. It was safe.

I have not found a better constructed AF than the OEM Filtechs for my Honda.

Cool.

This is so unlike Amsoil products. The filter feels very sturdy in your hands, and the car seems to like it very much.

But this rubber Amsoil is using for the edge seal is nothing more than cheap foam that breaks off.

Very disappointing.

I've had an Amsoil EaA in for 30k miles in my Buick LeSabre and find it to be just as good now as when it went in. Much better constructed than the Fram or Purolator in there before.

And no problems with the rubber seal (runs out to check).

Sorry. It's already gone back to Amsoil. I'm waiting on a replacement.
