+1000

While I'm not a fan of Hyundai’s lineup, the Elantra GT sure looks nice to me and I would love to see a more detailed review when OP racks up some more miles on this car.

I'll look into the snow tires. I got my Tonsils removed this morning. I won't be able to drive all week. I'm sitting here fairly high, looking at my new car out the window......

In at 8am, surgery at 10am, awake and 11:30, home at 12:30. I'm staying decently sedated. Mixed my liquid fruit punch flavored medicine with Gatorade. I'm sipping away......

I can't sleep so internet & tv are my best friends for the week. I'll be floating around this forum regularly.

Here's to a quick recovery from your surgery. Hope it is nothing serious. Look forward to your review.

If you manage with civic not required as you have skills.

I have owned blizzacks in past and nokians. Wonderful one week in the winter otherwise not so much.

The snows we have for both cars (One set Blizzak LM-25 and one set Nokian Hakka R) have paid for themselves a few times. Once was on a trip to CT where we ran into unexpected squalls from Albany to near Hartford. Being able to stop quickly to avoid other cars on the snow-covered roads came in handy then. The other time was clawing up an icy hill that was leaving other cars stranded.

You might wanna run some syn in there. It will greatly improve cold starts as well as incrementally increase fuel economy. Anything on sale would to the trick

If you get a set of narrower winter tires, you'll also notice INCREASED fuel economy over the stock summer setup.

Case in point. I went from 205/50/16's to a set of 175/70/14's formy winters and BOY did my mileage increase!!!! the 175's are a little too small, but really improve the economy. Honestly, I'm really looking for a set of 185's for winter to bring the car's ride height back up to stock~ish ride height

14's may not clear his brakes

What kind of mileage have you been getting? On paper the Elantra GT would be a great option for my next 90 mile round trip commuter ride, but the knock I've read on Elantras is that they are closer to 30 mpg than 40 mpg cars in the real world.

My elantra is a 4 door gls and we are getting 30 in stop and go expressway driving. Have not done a highway trip yet.

I drive 20 miles each way to work. 60% city 40% highway and I'm averaging 36.X MPG going 65-70 mph on highway and sitting at 15+ stop lights.

The other day I drove 70 miles, almost all of it was 45-55 mph with periodic stop lights. My average MPG was 46.6

I'm only on my second tank of gas but thus far I've been more then impressed.

Mind you that I have the manual 6 speed and drive to achieve great gas mileage.

When I put some some more miles I'll write up a full review. Thus far my ONLY compliant is that the stereo knobs are a reach when driving. However I can control everything via steering wheel buttons.

You can log your mpg at Fuelly.com and see what other Elantra owners are getting. They also have an app, but it is not the best, at least with my phone.

I don't know why anyone made reference to his method of payment.
So LAME.
He got a good deal ,and can pay off early if he likes.

To the OP nice car ,and great idea to put money away for your upcoming house purchase!
