No it's not a placebo effect; one too many guys here are dull-sensed, post- romantic boors.
That mild insult out of the way, I can EASILY tell on the one-ton cars with MT but maybe not so much on the 2 ton plus with automatic. More at Rod and piston racket and clatter telltale with the latter.
Don't let ANY of the flat-earthers here make you believe you cant tell - they are secretly jealous of your senses and don't want to be missing anything important.
 
Switched back to M1 0W20: Same tank of gas , same route to work and back , etc. MPG jumped back up 2+ MPG , engine back to being more responsive and less sluggish on acceleration ... So much for plecebo effect I suppose .
