I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GLS with 21,000 miles
which I love so far and it runs flawlessly. Since
my first oil change, I have always had the oil and
filter changed at the dealer.
However, I notice almost every time I go, they are
using a different brands. Sometimes Mobil, next time
Kenall, next time Castrol, etc.
The service manager told me that they purchase
whatever quality oil that they can get the best
price in bulk.
My question is if this is ok for my car to always
have different brands of oil? It is always 5W-30
though. Just wondering.
I faithfully do 4000 miles changes since day
one.

As long as they use the appropriate grade SM-rated oil, your car will die a death of rust or accident before the engine dies of oil brand changing. Enjoy it!

Is there a point to, or question in, this thread? That dealer is merely doing what many conscientious do-it-yourselfers do - shop the best price to meet the warranty mandated viscosity range and API spec. at each oil change.

You will be fine. No need to worry, at all.

I think we Hyundai owners should write to Hyundai... If they don't provide better service, then we will boycott Hyundai.

The owner's manual recommends Quaker State. The dealer in Virginia Beach, VA used Citgo.
