I have been working on my mower for some time now. It seems to get flooded within seconds after it starts. I have replaced the stater, spark plug, cleaned the carb and still no success. Any ideas what it might be?

Yes, while most of the time, these mowers either come with Tecumseh or B&S (esp. with B&S classic which it's carb is essentially a diaphram type), funny that the original OP didn't mention what type of engine he has on his Murray mower.

Q.

You can check the cowling next to where the sparkplug is - if it's a B&S there will be three numbers stamped into the metal: model type and code - if these numbers are present, I'll be able to tell you if there is a diaphragm and what the part number is. Usually you can get 'em off ebay. It's about a 15-20min procedure to change it if this is the case.
