I was just wondering how many of you guys use and or carry a multitool ? I have become like Linus on Charlie Brown that needs his blanket (that is Linus is'nt it) I just have to have one of these things pretty close by and man are they handy. I have most of the popular ones. Original Leatherman, Leatherman Supertool(my favorite) Leatherman Supertool 2000, Leatherman Wave, Leaterman Micra and a couple of Gerber's.

I have used these things for working on deer stands, outboard motors, chainsaws, bikes, trucks/suv's etc. I have to have one in the fishing boat for unhooking fish.

Any other multitool users out there.
How did I ever get by without these bad boys of the tool world? I'm getting to where I feel naked if I don't have one strapped on.

Actually I used to have one, but whenever I used it, it always seemed to be "not quite enough", not large enough, not the right size, whatever. The knife part was the most useful, but there are other ways to carry a small knife without all the other stuff that really didn't suit my needs good enough to worry about.

I would up giving mine to my son, but also gave him some decent real screwdrivers, pliers, a utility knife, etc in a small box for his car trunk.

And duct tape, too!

But, now talk to me about leaving home without my camera and laptop computer....I know exactly how you feel about your multitool!

I carry and use my gerber every day at work. I only have two gripes about it. one is the phillips screwdriver does not fit any screw i have tried it in, it's too fat for a regular #2 and too skinny for a #3. my other gripe is that you can pinch your hand with the handles if you are squeezing hard and it slips.

that new leatherman TI has caught my attention!

Tom Slick, yeah the #2 phillips on the older Gerber I have really bites. I will probably have Santa bring me a new TI but I have really grown attached to the old Supertool.

Pablo I remember the days when I could stroll into Dallas-Ft Worth Intl Airport go thru screening etc while carrying a pocket knife and having my Leatherman strapped on and in plain site. Oh those were the days....

i used to carry a leatherman pst ii. i now carry a crunch. its not practical to carry a full toolkit in my pocket. the only problem is keeping the serated blade sharp.

the boss really hates it when i pull it out to remove screws. "wait, i will go get a screwdriver". about a 1/2 hour later he usually finds one. by then i have finished.

the bigger blades on some knives make some security minded people nervous. most people dont give the multitool a second glance.

Some of the original Gerber multitools were on sale for $15 at a hardware store a few year back, I picked up a couple, and didn't get anymore. They were blood blister tools, really pinching one's palm if not careful. A lot of the tools also appeared to be investment catsings, and were prone to breaking. I carry an original Leatherman in my pack as it complememnts a Swiss Army Camper well, and also have a couple of the original Supertools that were available on clearance when the newer models came out. They're nice as the tools lock, and the while it's heavier the bigger pliers are handy. I also a have a Swiss Army multitool, which is a class act. I wish someone would make one using tool steel, like regular pliers, screwdrivers, etc., instead of using stainless all of the time. I don't carry any of them for cutting as the stainless blades don't hold an edge very well.
