Agree with Oilnerd. Depends on what all will need to be replaced. Likely you'll need a new tailpipe/resonator if the muffler is shot. Also depends on the muffler itself - my '97 Explorer was more expensive due to the configuration of the inlet pipes.
I got new exhaust from the cat back on an S-10 about a year ago for $175 + tax. I went to a locally owned place hoping they could do it cheap. They bent the pipes themselves and use thick, quality pipe. I did get the cheapest muffler they had, because the truck is a beater. Overall I was very happy with te job.
Thanks for the info .I figured the rust was a contributing factor . One of the hangars has to be welded as well . The noise has really increased over the past 2 weeks .
I was considering purchasing a bolt on type and giving it a shot myself but I am recovering from surgery and don't want to push my luck .I will most likely have a small muffler shop nearby do it .
