Hi y'all!

What do you guys think about running the mentioned oil (MOTUL 8100 X-CLEAN+ EFE 0W-30) for a BMW M47 engine?

I live in northern Spain, where temperatures go from -5º Celsius in winter to +35º Celsius during summer.

I do lots of short trips around town, and my car has 216.000 km with a oil consumption of 0,9 litros every 10.000 kilometers (10.000 km OCI).

I want to know if 0w30 is a good choice, or should I go for 0w40?

What does the engine call for, and which approvals?

A quart every 6k miles is a little more than I’m used to, but is only about 5oz per 1k miles, I.e. not significant in my book. I’d personally probably stay in the recommended grade & approvals, but pick the oil with the highest HT/HS… not only will it help minimize wear, the higher HT/HS will survive a little better at the piston ring / cylinder wall interface and therefore hopefully seal better and reduce consumption some.

Going up a grade doesn’t guarantee a higher HT/HS.

the engine calls for BMW LL04 or LL01

the oil aforementioned meets BMW LL04, so dont worry about that.

12.3 mm2/s at 100 degrees celsius, and 3.5 HTHS...

I THink its pretty decent
