Motorcraft 5w-30 Blend 1998 Ford Escort 4547 miles on oil

Analysis done by Fluids Analysis Laboratory (Holt). The filter was a Motorcraft filter. There are 83210 miles on the car. Lube Control and Fuel Power was used in this analysis (comparing with my last sampling here )

I forgot to mention this analysis was added by Dyson Analysis - who did a wonderful job assisting with deciphering and outlining a course of action.

The VOA of Motorcraft 5w-30 SM shows 30 ppm moly:

The Motorcraft oil shown in this UOA must be the older SL formulation.
 
It probably is - who knows how long the oil was on the shelf at Advanced Auto Parts.

I am thinking of switching to the 5w-20 formulation since (for some reason) the 5w-30 one seems harder to get.

Try Autozone if you want the the 5W-30. Every one I've been in seems to have it.
 
That was (is) my latest supplier - although Autozones around here are in the strangest neighborhoods.

Although I know Ford has speced this car for the 5w-20. I thought I would give it a try.
