Here in the cultural backwater of Omaha Nebraska the gasoline with 10 per-cent ethanol currently costs 10-cents more per gallon than the non-ethanol "regular" grade gas.
Hmmmmm..... pay more for a fuel that doesn't offer as many BTUs thus less mileage per gallon of fuel burnt???!!!!!
Local radio just made mention of this and that the price disparity is due to demand and a lack of supply of ethanol.... that ethanol was being imported from Brazil to assist in alleviating the shortage.
Hmmmm........ seems to me this occurance can lead to but one conclusion, the masses are unaware of the deficiency of "power" within the ethanol blend versus straight gasoline.
If folks knew the ethanol blend was the "inferior" fuel surely they would use the regular grade lower-cost non-blended gas, especially if it was 10-cents less per gallon.
Perhaps the masses see the greater octane number posted for the ethanol blend and consider it to be superior to the straight non-blended gas displaying a couple less octane numbers.
By golly.... add a little cologne to some gas and market it as the best and charge oodles and gobs for it. The masses would likely buy it and beg for more!!!!!!
Bah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
