Any other mushroom hunters here? I used to love hunting and eating them, but I'm old now and can't walk far.
Best year I ever had was mid-1980's here down at the Mo. River bottom. In 1/2 a day, ended up with four 5 gallon buckets full. Never had a year like that since. We ate them, froze and dehydrated them. Called up friends and knocked on neighbor's doors to give them away. Now they sell them on Craigslist for $60 per LB!
Friend I I went on a little road trip today, on the backroads. Crappy / Nasty day, about 48F, drizzling rain and 25 MPH winds. Saw quite a few pickups and cars parked along the woods and river. They had to be mushroom hunters. We went back to his shop and drank beer.
