I've noticed some more shift shock when using Maxlife sometimes - other times it's smooth. Perhaps it's throttle dependent. The fluid level and condition is spot on. I'll be adding an auxiliary B&M transmission cooler and a Magnefine filter in the next few weeks, too. Is Maxlife possibly too thin for my Pathfinder which specifies Matic-D? Should I try adding some Lubegard Red or try using a different or OEM ATF? Other than the shift shock, I have no issues with the transmission at this time.

By "shift shock" do you mean "firmer shift"?
I personally would use this ATF in about anything and wouldn't add anything to it.

Yeah, I guess it's a firmer shift. It's more noticeable (to me, anyway).

I did a flush on my 1996 V6 Camry about a month ago, using Maxlife. I haven't felt any difference in shift quality.

If it's any consolation, my 2004 Altima 2.5 S has a firm shift from day one although it isn't disturbing, just firm! I have used the factory fill which was OE Matic D, then switched to Mobil 1 Dex/Merc ATF in 2007(before Mobil 1 changed to milti vehicle) and finaly Castrol IMV in 2010. I feel no differenct in any of them. Don't know if this helpes but, try what CMF suggest by doing a battery disconnect and waiting a couple of weeks to really notice the difference. Or, go back to the ATF that worked best for you and see if the quality shifting returns with it.
