Many pipeline operators have banned the addition of diesel lubricity additives for fear of contaminating other fuels. There are 2,000 of these terminal operators and they all must add lubricity agents into diesel before it is delivered to customers.

So we finally find out how Conoco/Phillips goofed up.

Does this mean that the consumer should put lubricity additives in when we fill up, or will the oil companies do it before it is transported?

Good article Kule.

Mettech

I recommend to all my fleets to use after market additives. With #2 quality being questionable before the hurricanes and the upcoming ulsf. Plus a good one will pay for itself and then some. At the very least a lubricity add.

I don't know about you, but I don't trust the oil refineries. Remember the LSD experiments in CA in the 80's?

Using a fuel treatment at every fill-up is cheap insurance. Less than $1 extra per fill-up.

Or, do like me and just use the best fuel possible...BIODIESEL.
