I spoke to a guy at walmart. He insisted that Mobile one changed over to group III when they lost the court battle against Castrol.

According to him, M1 converted back to group III since they could not compete with castrol selling group III oil at the cost of full synthetic oil.

There have been exactly 7,346 posts on this subject. Most have their origin from idiots like the Walmart guy (which is why he works at Walmart)

Sounds like the guy at Advanced Auto Parts who told me that 5w20 oils are bad for a car that has over 20,000 miles.

Most of the time these a$$clowns don't know what they are talking about.

Yeah, one time a Canadian Tire worker said my engine would blow up if I put diesel engine oil in it. Oh, the stupidity of some people..

Did this guy tell you that if it's group III that their own SuperTech "full" synth MUST be made by Mobil, thus making it "rebottled Mobil 1"?

Like the computer industry, there's so much more misinformation than there is information.

I have a home on the oceanfront in Arizona that I'd like to sell him.

And Fiat made good cars....

"Round and round we go ladies and gentlemen..."

In honor of the legions of brain surgeons who keep slandering this fine product, may I be so bold as to point out that "Mobile" is a coastal city in southern Alabama (through which I have the privilege of driving twice a week), while "Mobil" is a company that produces petrochemical products. . .

And here's a bone for those of you who are stubbornly spelling challenged. Repeated scientific studies have revealed that there is virtually no correlation between spelling ability and testable intelligence.

Yes. I have read that the very smartest people are mostly poor spellers.

I have always been a good speller. Drat !

OK, I'm going to try to bring this thread full circle, and back on course, all at the same time: only blind jerk-offs who can't spell believe that Mobil-1 is really a Group-III oil.

Oh I understand. My mom said that I'd go blind if I, er, nevermind.

almost to bifocals right now.

Great job ekpolk! Now that we're back on course, what's there to talk about? I mean we all KNOW "Mobile Won" is hydrocracked, right?

Q: I didn't find this site until after M1 Supersyn was out on the market...was the Tri-syn or Advanced Formula pure Group IV?

The Tri-syn was group IV and V.

They were using PAO, Alkylated naphthalenes (Group V), and a cocamide ester (Group V).

In my view, neither their AN's nor their cocamide ester was up to par for this combo.
