Car: 2003 Honda Si (EP3)
Engine: 2.0L 4-cyl (K20A)

Total miles on engine: 12,100
Total miles on oil: 4000miles
Make up Oil: None
Oil Filter: Honda OEM

Lab: Blackstone

This is the second UOA for this engine. The first number is the previous UOA and the second number is the recent UOA.

aluminum 7, 5
chromium 1, 1
iron 13, 8
copper 8, 3
lead 1, 1
tin 1, 0
moly 102, 51
nickel 0, 0
manganese 0, 0
silver 0, 0
titanium 0, 0
potassium 4, 1

flashpoint 350, 370
fuel 0.8, water 0.0, 0.0

insolubles 0.2, 0.4

Wear seems to be improving as the engine breaks in. Both iron, copper and silicon all dropped.
Seems like an OK report.

Thanks,

Pretty good report! Did you add the #132 in the previous UOA? The #132 is good stuff and I'm begining to be a true believer....it also seems it didn't raise viscosity all that much either. I have 1 pint left and will use it over the next 2 OCIs.

Seems like a nice report. The only concern I may have is that the insolubles have doubled.

Last_Z, the first report did not have Moly E.P. added.

As far as the insolubles doubling, the lab didn't have any problem with it (even though they compated it to the previous report), and actually noted that it was low showing good oil filtration and complete combustion. So I don't know what to think. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it over the next UOA's.

This is a fine report and typical of the way this engine wears-in. I have 40,000 miles on my K20A3 and my wear metals are still trending slightly lower with each report.

What sort of driving do you do?

Jay - This is the girlfriend's daily driver. This oil interval saw mostly winter starts with lots of initial idling (she hates the cold and has to warm up the car), and short, 10mile or less one-way trips. She is not exactly Senna so I would say the car hasn't been extended to it's performance extremes on many occasions.
