25,000 on 2008 FLHX. 5k on oil. Other sample on chart is Syn3

Wear numbers are fantastic, can't argue with those numbers at all.

I saw the Mobil 1 20W50 cycle oil thicken in another UOA, if I recall correctly.

Not sure why it does that...

But nonetheless, it worked extremely well for you. :)

The Syn3 UOA is fraught with break in wear, so those metal numbers don't mean a lot... but at least it didn't shear a grade as we've seen it do in general.

Thanks for sharing the report.

Oil thickened a lot! Its a 60 Weight. It should have started out at under 18 cSt @ 100C. That worries me with no TBN or Oxidation numbers. Still insolubles look good and wear metals look good.

Thanks for the comments.

I didn't do a TBN as I only wanted this as reference to compare with the brand I replaced it with. I just assumed that the PAO MC oils were good for 5k.

In regards to the "thickening", I am not sure what to think. By reading other UOAs, it is evident (unless I am missing something) That M1 Vtwin and Amsoil MCV 20/50 will both end up on the heavy side on a 5k OCI. Whether that is good or bad, I am not sure. But.... wonder given all the material avaiable that extols these oils as rock solid Best of Breed, whether or not they actually live up to their own standards.

You have a very Hot running Harley to evaporate the oil, go Redline MC oil IMO

That oil needs alot of heat to work properly, sounds like you got it

I have seen both M1 Vtwin and Amsoil MCS go to the low 20s for viscosity at 100C in UOAs. It is actually not that unusual but certainly gets a person's attention. Another observation, the starting point for M1 Vtwin is now 17.7 but as I recall a year or so ago they made some changes. I think the starting point prior was something around 19. I found that chage interesting and have wondered if it might have been to keep it in grade during use.

I have read that initially an oil breaks down and thins and then as it oxidises and gets old it starts to thicken. I initally thought the oil report may be wrong due to the relatively low miles on oil, but maybe the oil is having a hard time during that interval.
