They have been over $27 down here in central FL for a over 6 months now.
Maybe someone from the W/NW part of the country can chime in....it seems you guys have cheaper oil prices at WM's in that area of the country. Is that true or am I just dreaming?
Either way Walmart has lost my business for oil (except for PU every once in a while). AAP and other stores can't be beat with their monthly specials.
If you think M1 at $5.50/qt($27.17/5) is expensive take a look at parts stores price, they are more than $8/qt.
The sub $4/qt syn oil is over, many dino is now more than $3/qt at parts stores.
The prices are getting a little high for my blood, I'll just continue to only buy oil when it is on sale or there is a nice rebate.
It is a better deal now to go to the parts stores and take the oil+filter deals they have monthly if you need a change, walmart lost my business in the oil department.
Pennzoil Platinum 5 quart jug @ Walmart went from $20.50 in the summer of 2010 to $23.50 this past Spring to $24.50 here in MI. I agree parts stores with sales and rebates are now a better deal in most cases....
$27.17 for M1 in a five-quart isn't bad. That's about the same price, quart for quart, as my local auto parts stores charge for Quaker State Ultimate Defense.

x2. It's now up to the point where it is more economical to buy the oil change deals from auto parts places.
It's not so much that Walmart is the culprit, it's the oil companies raising prices, forcing Walmart to do so as well. Cause and effect.
I'm not so much into the oil change deals for my personal cars as i use Amsoil & Amsoil oil filters but for other car's i service, i'll continue to seek out oil discounts and rebates.
Oil is way up to over 100 a barrel. Inflation is up as well, so consumer oil prices have to go up, synthetic and regular. Oddly gas is down, but this is supposedly due to our weak economy and weak demand.
