What are your OCI's like, if it is 5K then it does not matter. My point is that the name on the oil filter means nothing, it is about what is inside the oil filter. 2 answer your question, just do this:Generally speaking, is the Mobil1 EP oil filter made of decent quality today??

It should serve you well for the 7k mile oci you indicated below. You could save money and just use a basic filter for that mileage. ST, Fram orange, ACdelco, puro classic etc. or use the M1 for 2 ocisGenerally speaking, is the Mobil1 EP oil filter made of decent quality today??

Another thing that's new is the business end is covered with plastic, at least the one I bought that's the same P/N as the filter pictured in a post further up. I for one am a fan, the more crud kept out of the filter the better.I could be wrong but if you want to make sure you get the new ones, look inside the center tube. If it has louvers, it's the old style. The new ones have holes punched instead of louvers. There may be old stock still sitting on shelves.
I heard they are soon going to black plastic to deter the weird people breaking the box seal to shine a flashlight in themAnother thing that's new is the business end is covered with plastic, at least the one I bought that's the same P/N as the filter pictured in a post further up.
