Just saw this Mobil 2000 in Kaufland (Euro general store chain). Specs are hilarious. 20€ for 5L jug . Sorry for poor photo.

For as expensive as oil normally is in Europe, $4/qt for what appears to be a pretty stout synblend with MB-Approval-229.3 and VW502 00/VW505 00 approval looks pretty decent to me.

By ordering online you can usually get the Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5w40 which has MB 229.5 approval for same price or cheaper, but for a brick and mortar store the price doesn't look that bad.
I can't read all the approvals on the sticker though, looks like MB 229.1 only?

Now that I look again, it does appear to only be MB229.1. But for a "General Store" it sounds like a reasonable price, like in the US at Dollar General stores it's like $4-5/qt for cheap convetional/syn blend.

What specs and why are they hilarious?
It does have MB 229.1 and Avtovaz approval and only meets requirements of ACEA A3/B4 and API SL. Usually olis sold in Europe will not have meets requirements regarding ACEA.

Plus VW 502 00/505 00.

It also has VW approvals.

And "meets requirements" is appropriate for a ACEA sequence since it is not an approval. It's also appropriate language for an API license.

Only 229.1 and Autovaz approval. Whatever that is.

You have a good eye. I've missed the VW approval.

Don't they at Mobil usually print manuf date on the jug's bottom that can only be read with black light?
In the US there's a batch code printed onto the label the date is in the middle of it with the formal of YY M DD , the year and day are numerical, the month is a letter.

I'll take my light to WM to check it, it used to be there, maybe in addition to another print.
That's the only reason I got those black light flashlights and used them for that very purpose in the past.
