Have been using Delvac MX 15w40 in the marine volvo penta v8 for two summers now. The manual calls for 15w50 mineral or 30 synthetic but I have had good results with the 15w40, good pressure and clean looking oil changes. Now I found a deal on PENNZOIL GT PERFORM 20W-50 and thinking that may be closer viscosity wise, but I don't know much about pennzoil. What kind of oil is this? Should I switch?

Looks like a good oil anybody know where one could get it in the states? would like to try a jug or two?

I searched for Delvac MX a few months ago. I could not find it at any truck stops or diesel garages. I finally called Mobil, and they said it is only available at distributors. I found a distributor in Grand Rapids that had it at $15/gallon. If you get on Mobil's website, I'm sure you can find a distributor in your area.

K thanks..

Seems the consensus is to use the HDEO (Mobil) and I agree. While Pennzoil is also top tier oil, isn't this oil more tailored as a "race oil" with limited detergents in its add pack?

Can't find it any longer because it doesn't meet CJ-4 emission standards. As the OP said, it is available at your local distributor. To the actual question, any HDEO will perform well in a Marine application. Here in the Bay Area, Delo 15W-40 is used almost exclusively. But others like Delvac and Rotella would be find too.
