Mobil Delvac 1300 15w-40

A good deal at ~$8 per gallon. The sale ends July 29th according to my app. This sale coupled with the Mobil rebate ($5/gallon) that ended in May would be an excellent deal!

just my $0.02

Got my 5 and have future son in law going after another 5. Has anyone else been pricing filters lately? I noticed NAPA went up $2 on the Gold for my CTD.

hey according to the "experts" inflation will only be temporary... :ROFLMAO:

As a side note I get 3 Fleetguard filters off of Amazon deliver to my house for $35.75, so less than $12 per filter. I use the LF16035, which is the Stratapore filter. The NAPA gold cross references over to the regular LF3972 (same as the MO-285) which is a little cheaper.

I get my filters on Amazon also but they are going up on there also. I’ve got Donaldsons, Fleetgaurds, Baldwins and Mopar on the shelf. Enough for 12 oil changes and I’ll have enough oil for 16. Already have some from the earlier rebates.

Check the numbers on PQIA.org....not very good. Much better oils out there.
What do the numbers tell you? Seems to have all the usual approvals AND some....
- and happens to be one of, if not THE most sold HD diesel oil in the world. CAT seems to trust it under its own brand name and goes through millions of gallons.

Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 is one of the top diesel oils in the country. I have been using it my Kubota tractor for 20 years. $8.24 a gallon is a good price for it these days, especially without needing to fool around with a rebate.

@tundraotto not sure what's funny? What do the numbers tell me...LOL.... Here, I did the research for you in about 2 minutes. Pretty simple bud. Bigger is more, smaller is less. Click on the links and see for yourself or use "the most sold diesel oil in the world". The newer CK-4 formula lost a decent amount of ZDDP, but it's still the most solid oil in the world because CAT uses it, right? SMFH. Lose the attitude. It's an oil forum.

@wdn yeah it used to be. I used it in my Duramax years ago for 150,000 miles. Not so much anymore. The links will show you the numbers pretty quick. But, use what helps you sleep at night. Having a choice is a great thing.

We ran DD15’s, ISX’s and a bunch of different type Cats with 50,000 mile OCI’s on MOBIL Delvac. I personally ran 2 to almost 1,000,000 miles each and retired before I wore out the third one. If it carries the certifications, and it does, then there’s no difference between brands.

Do you think ZDDP is the only anti-wear additive used by refiners? Does the Castrol suck too because it doesn't have boron?
What about the base oil type and quality? Do you think that is there just to hold the ZDDP in suspension?

What is funny is that:
- you are attempting to reflect your uneducated opinion as some sort of fact.

It has all the certifications - just not yours.

At one point Shell claimed that they had an independent lab test Delva 1300 Super 15W40 and that it failed the Volvo T13 Engine Oil Oxidation Test, but they kind of kept quiet about it after a while and the video on YouTube is unlisted, they didn't disclose any numbers of how it failed either, my guess is that it barely failed and the failure was within margin of error and that most conventional HDEO offerings ie. Shell Rotella T4, Delo 400 SDE, Delvac 1300 Super, etc are formulated to barely pass that test anyways.

There are other additives than ZDDP to help with today's formulation. If you want ZDDP then I'd suggest Mystik JT-8. I have a test report from a month ago that shows
CALCIUM 1173
MAGNESIUM 1123
PHOSPHORUS 1196
ZINC 1341

Seems like a decent additive package to me...

Can you get it for $8.25 per gallon or at just about every truck stop and farm and fleet store in America? And Walmart?

Shell was slapped down by Detroit Diesel, who not only refuted Shell’s claim about Delvac 1300, but went on to state Delvac 1300 fully meets Detroit Diesel’s certification I.e. its 93K222 approved engine oil list They further stated the only source authorized to ever make public statements that a particular motor oil fails to meet a Detroit Diesel spec, is Detroit Diesel corporation itself.

The only real test besides numbers in an add pack is to post up a few UOAs with severe usage and see what you get. Maybe the add pack numbers don't matter to some. It seems saving money over everything else is what is important. That's all good. For me, I look at the formulation and what has been tried and go that way. I only run 5k intervals anyways. I only use UOAs occasionally to tell me what sort of health my engine has. Certifications don't mean ****. Ask the owner of Triax Lubricants what it takes to get a "certification" from a major manufacturer. It's sorta like politics and nothing about good or bad oil formulations. Either way, pick your oil, run it, and be happy.
