Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40

Product Description Features & Benefits Applications Specifications & Approvals Typical Properties Health & Safety

Product Description
Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 is a supreme performance, synthetic diesel engine oil that provides unsurpassed lubrication including better fuel economy, long drain capability, and extended engine life for diesel engines operating in severe applications. The advanced technology behind this product delivers exceptional performance in turbo-charged as well as older, naturally aspirated engines. Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 is recommended for use in a wide range of heavy-duty applications and operating environments found in the marine, trucking, mining, construction, and agriculture industries.

Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 has all the advantages of an SAE 40 weight oil without the higher oil consumption inherent in multigrade oils that use very light base stocks to achieve low temperature performance. Because of the unique molecular structure of the synthetic base stocks used, combined with a highly responsive additive system, Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 does not volatilise as readily in the high temperature ring-belt area of the pistons of turbocharged engines. It also provides stronger lubrication film strength at higher temperatures, reducing oil consumption and wear while improving fuel economy.

Features & Benefits
Modern high output diesel engines run hotter than older engines which significantly increases the demands on engine lubricants. Current tighter engine designs reduce oil consumption, resulting in less fresh oil makeup to replenish depleted additives. Top piston rings are located higher bringing the oil film closer to the combustion chamber where temperatures increase thermal stress on the lubricant. Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 can provide satisfactory lubrication at temperatures significantly higher than the upper limit for other extra high performance diesel engine oils. It is also fully compatible with conventional mineral oils.

The key features and potential benefits include:

Features
Advantages and Potential Benefits
Optimum thermal and oxidation stability Reduced low temperature sludge build-up and high temperature varnish deposits
Enhanced TBN Quality Reserves Deposit control and extended drain intervals
Inherent stay-in-grade shear stability Wear protection and reduced oil consumption
Maintains viscosity in severe, high temperature service
Reduced internal fluid friction Improved fuel economy
Enhanced high temperature/high shear performance Reduced engine scuffing and bore polishing
Exceptional low temperature pumpability Easier engine start-up and reduced wear
Outstanding resistance to corrosion Extended life of critical wear surfaces
Long drain capability Increased operating efficiency and lower overall cost
Component compatibility
Meets or exceeds demanding specifications of key OEMs
Low volatility Longer gasket and seal life, extended service intervals
One engine oil for mixed fleet operations
Reduced oil consumption

Applications
Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 is recommended for use in all types of heavy duty, 4-cycle high speed diesel engine applications including those which are turbo-charged or intercooled. It is particularly suiteable for life boat engines and emergency generators operating under the most severe service conditions.

When Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40 is used in an engine for the first time, no system preparation is necessary other than proper draining and installation of a new filter. In an emergency, conventional oil can be used as make-up for Mobil Delvac 1 SHC, but such mixing may lower the oil's performance. Do not dilute crankcase oil with gasoline or kerosene in cold weather. The diluent will not improve cold cranking and may have an adverse effect on the performance of Mobil Delvac 1 SHC 5W-40.

Any one experience this oil?

It doesn't exist.
Mobil Oz still list it in the PDS's, but if you enquire, they will tell you it's been superceded with the latest CI-4, ACEA E3/E4/E5, Global DHD, etc, D 1.

Shannow, for one, enquired into this quite a time back due to its CF classification for his Navarra. He ended up using M1 0w-40. (Called Turbo Diesel in Europe.
