I started the ARX treatment on my 91' Pathfinder w/ 137K miles on it. I have used amsoil for the past 37K miles. I did an oil change 100 miles ago with Mobil DC 5w30 and ST oil filter, and Today I got my ARX on the mail so I drained 8oz of oil out of the truck to make up for the ARX and to my surprise the oil is completely black with just that many miles, when I did my oil changed I left the drain plug off for about 8 hours to get most of the old oil drained.is it possible the Mobil DC is doing that much cleaning?

Except didn't he draw off the 8 oz before the AutoRx was in it? But I think you are right about it maybe being the engine. My dirty engine will make the oil look that way in probably half as many miles, but look at it on the dip stick and it should not look so black. It doesn't take much darkening to make a jar of oil look black but thined on the stick will show the true color.

BTW, the Drive Clean is supposed to be a very good oil for cleaning too--but I can't imagine much effect in 100 miles.

I drained 8 oz of oil before I added the ARX thats when i noticed the color of the oil.

I think that is completely normal. I've noticed the same thing on both my Altima and E150 van when I drain off extra oil after accidently overfilling

during an oil change. The dip stick is clear, but the "new" oil coming out the pan is pitch black. And...by the way, don't expect the oil with RX in it to "look" any dirtier when you eventually drain it. Oil color can be deceiving and probably doesn't reveal much that is meaningfull.

If anything I would say that MDC is not holding up in your engine. Their is no way under the sun that Amsoil left anything behind that MDC could possable clean out!! MDC has to be one of the worst dino oil on the planet.

Sounds like it cleaned something out.

Perhaps the same mechanism of the ARx dino flush is at work here.
