Ok between Mobil 7500, Castrol Syntec blend, and Motorcraft synthetic blend motor oils which one do you oil gurus thinks is better? I tried looking for UOAs and VOAs on the 7500 and Syntec blend but there weren't that much plus I don't know how to read it. I want to use both 5w-20 and 5w-30 in two different cars. But if I can't find 7500 or Syntec blend in 5w-20 (which I haven't seen yet) I'm going have to use 5w-30. So I was wondering if these oils are on the thin or thick side of the 5w-30 scale? I don't want to sacrifice my gas mileage (that is if the 30w affects it at all)during the high gas prices lately. Thanks in advance.

I believe that the 7500 is mostly group III with some group IV mixed in. Not a bad oil for the price.

In reality, castrol syntec is probably similar to the formulation of 7500. Maybe castrol, even the syntec blend has more esters in it than the 7500 will have.

Motorcraft is a blend of group II/II+ with group III 'syn' it is a well put together oil, especially considering that its probably $1+ cheaper than the others.

Id probably rate it 7500>syntec blend> motorcraft

What really matters is how the oil does in your engine!

I agree with everything that JHZR2 just said. I am looking forward to some UOAs of that Mobil 7500. We have had some great UOAs of Castrol Syntec Blend and MC. My gut feel is to rank them 7500>Syntec Blend>MC....but I have no numbers to back that up. Just based upon a guess of their base stocks. Each might vary in your engine, so it really might be trial and error.

I would go with Mobil. Mobil has provent o be very ethical with it's customers on what they give them and what is in the bottle.

I have usualy goten 10-25 psi lower oil pressure with Castrol Syntec Blends then with Mobil-1 or Delo or Chevron Supreme. I am currently running Castrol Syntec in my Camry andit is oxidizing realy quickly! This has me a bit concerned but I will wait for the UOA to tell me ehat is going on.

We do not have any UOA with Mobil 7500 but it would still be my choice! I am a bit biased against Castrol but I am useing their product so I am at least open minded enough to use their products when the price is right!
