Mobil 1 vs Mobil Extended

Guys: I usually change my oil every 5K miles. I use Mobil 1 5W30 and have excellent results. I was considering switching to Mobile Extended because it has additional additves. Should be better, right? Question: Is Mobil Extended better than regular Mobil 1 for users who change the oil every 5-6K? Note: On the Mobil Extended jug at Wally it was rated SJ and not SM. Can anyone explain this? JR

For 5k the SM Mobil 1 should be fine. The Extented Performance has the higher levels of zinc and phosphorous so it still carries the SL rating.

For 5,000 miles, it is not worth the difference in price. Heck, for 5000 miles, use Mobil 5000.

5,000 mile OCI. Use Havoline -$1.18 a quart from Walmart.People get great results from this oil.

For a 5,000 OCI most any API certified oil will serve you well and save you some $$.
