Mobil 1 European Car Formula 5W50 in a Silverado

Or the famous Shell T-6? It has a rebate right now even....
Here is a T6 15w40 VOA that Yahtzee posted when it first came out in 2019. Enjoy.

Most 10W-40 oils are closer to a 30 grade in KV and HTHS. I haven't seen a "new" 10W-40 in I don't know how long. It's a dead grade.

Most 15W-40 oils have a much higher KV and HTHS.
The synthetic HDEO 10W40s are OK. I have 2 un-opened pails of Duron 10w40 waiting for colder weather. Very expensive.

Even 10W40 PCMO isn't that far off of 15W40 HDEO, VWB and MaxLife are around 16CSt and have HTHSs above 4, Quaker State HM, Castrol GTX HM, Castrol Edge HM, Mobil1 HM all have KV100 above 15 and the HTHS isn't published but I'd assume they'd be similar to Valvoline, most 15W40 HDEO has an HTHS around 4.2 and a KV100 around 14-15 and an HTHS around 4.1-4.2, I'm not seeing where the 10W40 PCMO is sooo much thinner.

What concerns me is the KV100C and HTHS of non-synthetic 10w40s at drain time.

One thing that is missing from this conversation is that most oil pumps have a spring loaded relief valve and will dump oil back into the pan if the pressure gets too high. Using high viscosity oil to boost oil pressure in a worn engine does not yield good results except perhaps for idle pressure at operating temperature. ;)

These are springs that progressively open depending on their rate. That valve is shut at idle and probably halfway through the rev range. I agree chasing pressure for pressure's sake is a little silly.
