Mobil 1 EP not Group IV?!

OK, first of all, please forgive me if I've missed the relevant discussion...

A member of another board I belong to claims to have called the ExxonMobil hotline and gotten the answer that original Mobil 1 is still a group IV, but the new Mobil 1 EP is a group III...

I know the people manning the phones are not always the most knowledgeable, but this seems like a rather egregious error, if indeed it IS an error...

Someone PLEASE reassure me it ain't so...

that would go against common thought, make an oil that is going to be subjected to harder use/longer drains and use a cheaper base stock ?, I wouldn't think so but that is just my opinion.

Id grp III clean 5000 needs grp IV doping to be able to go 7500 mi, what makes anyone think that the 15k oil could only be group III?
