Just figured I'd complain a little... Replaced the Valvoline 10w40 4T conventional oil I had been running in my XS850G with some Mobil 1 10w40 4T oil the other day. Now I'd noticed a decent oil leak from the left side cover when on the side stand and hot. Never had this before... Checked all bolt tightness and didn't find any.

I have no doubt this is a high quality lubricating oil, and I'd sure its providing better cold start protection but I do believe I'll be going back to conventional oil next time as I don't need a leaky bike!

Agreed. Alot of older Harleys can't tolerate a synthetic oil without some weeping. If its not cold where you are I wouldn't worry about using a conventional. In fact I'm really liking rotella t conventional 15w40 and use it in all my shared sump bikes. It's cost effective and jaso rated so its safe for wet clutches.

Yeah, seems Rotella is very popular around these parts. Just had the itch to try synthetic- I will say the clutch feel has improved with the M1, but I haven't heard too many complaints with rotella.

Like I said, next change I'll probably go back.
