I've been doing short oil changes due to fuel dilution from short trips.

In the last 6 months, I've been using 91 octane as the car seems more responsive.

Looking at the analysis, there might be more benefits to using 91 octane. Only 4 of the fill ups were 10% ethanol, the rest were ethanol free.

@himemsys this UOA reminds me of your thread

Looks like all that Moly in # 4 didn't do no good.

Short Trips = Fuel Dilution @ 3200 Miles you should be using the cheapest conventional oil you can find .

I agree but the clearance price for m1 afe couldn't be beat ($3.68US/quart). Should have enough for 4 years @ 3200 miles / oil change.

The car seems more quiet when starting in winter so I'm happy.

Used to think 300v was best as it might give better protection for cold winter short trips and the high ester content would keep everything clean.

So #4 was old stock of 300v which should be a different formulation. #3 was new stock

Thanks. Just noticed the difference.

You had to add 1 qt in 3200 miles? Also, the TBN seems low for M1 AFE with only 3200 miles and 1 qt added.

About 1/3 of a quart was added and it was a week before the oil change.

This was the first time I've ever seen the oil level low and had to add oil. In the past, it was always over the line because of fuel dilution.

Bought a new PCV valve and hose in case the PCV might be the reason for the low oil.

I agree the TBN seems low but the car is driven hard so I'm not surprised.

VOA thanks to @bhvrdr

Sometimes consumption happens when you switch brands and will settle down after a couple of UOA. It's been speculated on to wide degree in past BITOG threads.
