There was more highway than normal in this interval probably 40% traffic, 60% highway. The gearing in my car places my engine at 4000rpm, probably not the easiest of rpm range. No auto-x in this range, but a decent amount of WOT. No fuel or oil additives.

I am happy that the lead is down, I think it was a particle streak. It looks like I need to take a look at the air filter. Could the high si cause the higher iron levels? Although just looking at the numbers the report appears to be pretty good. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would call your results excellent! I am amaized at how well these 20 weight oils do.

Great report!! Is there any particular reason you changed from 5-30 to a 0-20 and later a 5-20? Perhaps you got a change of heart about x-20 oils as I have after reports on BITOG. I also note that there does not appear to be any significant difference between the Filtec and the Fram sourced Honda filters. Are you changing the filter at each OCI or every other as shown in the Honda maintenance schedule? Thank you for this very interesting posting!

Nice data, Surprise.

I am curious why you went to 0-5W/20's in your Si. Was this a factory recommended option for this model year or something you decided to use over a XW/30?

5/20 is the factory recommended oil.

One of these days I'm going to screw up the courage high enough to run Exxon 5w-20 for 10k miles. My last test at 6.5k the Al-3 Cr-0 Fe-2 Cu-1 Pb-0 Sn-0

The 10w30 was what the Honda dealership filled the car with, I had no say in the oil choice. I decided to use M1 5w30 so that I could compare 30 and 20 weight wear rate results on the same engine. My initial thought was that the 20 weight oil would show almost identical results as the 30 weight, but I wanted to verify.

The change from 0w to 5w was because I could no longer find the 0w20, although I have been able to locate some 0w20 recently.

The filter gets changed every oil change, although now that you remind me of the specification it might make for some interesting tests. hmmm.

Isn't this the same engine that the base Acura RSX has ??

Essentially they are the same. The base rsx does not have a balance shaft or electric power steering but does have a dual runner intake manifold and the type-s’s oil pump, or so I am told.

I should do a UOA some day. I run a lot of different oils in my RSX and accrue miles quickly. Mobil 1 0w-30 is my favourite. Doing planned 9000mi intervals.
