Attached is the UOA for a 7 month, 7721 mile run on M1 0W40 in my 2002 Volvo. Mahle filter.
I am relatively pleased with the results, though I can't explain the slight fuel contamination, except that there were a lot of errands/traffic before taking the sample, and perhaps the extensive idling was causal. I noticed no M1 "issues" like high Fe. I don't have a VOA, so I can't tell if it has sheared significantly from new but 11.9 CsT is right where a heavy 30 (like GC) or a light 40 would be and is appropriate to this car.
I plan to keep using it.
Html:
Volvo 2.3 L Turbo
Gasoline (unleaded)
Mobil 1 0W40
7,721 Miles on Oil
120,045 Miles on vehicle
Wear in this 2.3L looks good after more than 7,700 miles on the oil.
Metals read at or better than universal averages, which are based on 5,600 miles.
We did see fuel at 0.5%, but this level isn't typically enough to pose an issue.
The TBN was fine at 2.7, showing some active additive left. A TBN of
less than 1.0 is too low for extended oil use.
Overall this engine looks good at just over 120,000 miles.
Try going 9,000 miles next time.
