My results below were obtained with Mobil 1 0w40, Lubecontrol, Fuel Power (most tanks), and Schaffers #132 in my '02 LS1 Camaro. Sample was taken 02/13/05. Oil Change Light illuminated at about 5400mi ... oil changed at 5948mi.

Results were obtained using a paper airfilter element in conjunction with an aftermarket Lid and a K&N oilfilter (HP 2006).

Vehicle is a 2002 Camaro Z28 with 32,502 miles on the odometer. Car is essentially stock with exception of a Yank converter. This oil was origionally put in the car in Fall of 2004. I added no make up oil, but did add over 1/2qt of Lubecontrol in small increments throughout the OCI.

At least 16 qtr mile passes at track as well as 2 dyno runs and some spirited driving on the street.

4th- This OCI
3rd- M1 0W40 w/paper elemnt(Aftr Mkt Lid), M1- 206,& Lube control
2nd- M1 0W40 w/paper element (stock lid) & M1-206
1st-M1 10W30 w/paper elemnt(Aftr Mkt Lid)& M1-206

My comments/observations ... Iron is fairly steady (Lubecontrol) ... lead, tin, aluminum, & copper are all down.

Did the previous run have the same amount of dyno and racing runs. If not, I'm with John big time. LC

Previous OCI had about 6 qtr mi passes and no dyno time ... note that this OCI also used #132 as well which was not used last OCI ... might also be a contributing factor to the better wear numbers.

Thx JHH

Yea..I would try the GC. Another possibility which I think would be better than the 0W-40 is a mix of 10W-30 and 15W-50. somewhere between a 25% and 50% 15W-50. Much more shear stable.

Certainly doesn't appear to be any evidence here that LS1 "likes a thicker oil".

Maybe you should have Patman come change your oil with some of his GC.

I changed the oil when the sample above was taken and I have replace the M1 0W40 with GC 0W30. We'll see how well it does in my LS1 next time around.

M1 0w-40 is M1 0w-30, wish they would list it that way.

Now Terry ...you know you can't just come in and say "Oh ..btw..while you were gone the cat died."

Are you saying that the 0w-40 is just a tweeked 0w-30 that was just pushed over the line to get the designation (Wm. F. Buckley, Jr. "Hmmm?" following)?

It's a 0w-30 bc through most of it's interval, it is a 0w-30. What I don't get with this oil is why they didn't formulate it like the Esso 0w-40 (HT/HS of 4.2). Fuel efficiency?

Gary, What I am saying is that, the chemistry tested in really well maintained engines, generally shears to 100C vis appproximating SAE 30w.

BTW your Jeep threw a rod while you were gone today ! That new telemetry hook up we sold you alerted the office !

Terry, WHile M1 0W40 might be mis-labled it does seem to turn in good numbers! Is their anything wrong with it from a engine protection stand point? I ask becuase I really like the wear numbers I have seen with it! I was also thinking that it is a good comprimise due to it's higher HTHS then M1 5W30 and 10W30 for year round use. It is replaceing my old stand by of M1 15W50 in the warm months and M1 10W30/5W30, M1R in the winter months.

What ever free advice you fill you can give is always apreciated!!!

Yes ... LC is working/helping ... most apparent in the reduction of Iron found in the oil. If you look at the 4ea samples, #3 and #4 had lubecontrol, you'll notice a significant reduction in the iron as compared to samples #1 and #2.

LC helps elsewhere too ... maybe someone else can explain further.

JHH

What about the Lubecontrol? Is there evidence that lubecontrol is helping out here?

I ask because my car is running M1 0W40, and I have a jug of LC that I was thinking of adding (once the oil level drops as the dealer put in 1/2 qt too much).
