How does the 0w30 Fuel Efficient Mobil 1 oil compare to the Amsoil SSO 0w30? Just wondering because it is pretty inexpensive at Walmart. I know that the Amsoil 0w30 has proven to be pretty good. Just curious how the two compare?

Amsoil has way more detergents. Amsoil has a significant amount of esters.

I have no way of proving it, but I would suspect that Amsoil SSO is "better" depending on your application and intentions. That being said, I just picked up Mobil1 0W-30 for winter at Autozone (to use the rebate). Two COMPLETELY different oils.
The SSO is designed to last MUCH longer, and has a MUCH heavier add-pack and higher TBN.
It is also more expensive.
The M1 will not last the same duration in the same application, but otherwise appears to be a good oil. I have no personal experience with it, since this grade is not yet available in Canada.

I think I am going to stick to the Amsoil for my Eclipse. It is my summer season car, so I pretty much drive it from aprilish through the fall until it gets to cold and [censored] here in Michigan. This season I have about 4k on it, and the oil report looked pretty perfect.
I was just curious because it is expensive, but that car is also my baby/toy and I drive it pretty hard, so I want to make sure I use the best stuff with it. But I was thinking I might be able to save a few bucks, but who knows.

Yeah, these oils are not even remotely the same. The SSO was built for very long OCI's.
