Sample #2 was a 2020 Tundra with 50,000 miles and a 5,000 miles OCI running Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. Sample #1 was Kendall GT-1 0W-20 on a 5,000 OCI when the Tundra had 20,000 miles on it.

For comparison this was the last UOA also with Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 on a 5k OCI with 40,000 miles on the Tundra. Everything seems steady state and happy.

As a side note, you can see how consistently Blackstone's method of estimating fuel dilution has underestimated it compared to Oil Analyzers.

Looks good and that looks like older add pack. Wondering how you get exactly 5k intervals. My luck has me roll up to the house at different miles than when I intend to.

Yup, it's been sitting on my shelf for a few years.
I believe that the API SN version was one of Mobil's best. Mobil used POE in the blend. The new SP version is formulated similarly to everything else in their lineup: GTL+PAO as the base oil (some products use Group III+ HVHI, others use just GTL, while others use a blend of base oils), and AN as a co-base. Mobil has given up on using POE and esters in general as co-bases in their consumer level products, and the only reason for the change I can think of is cost. Still, in typical Mobil fashion, they're making excellent products.

In the age of information overload I’m actively trying to spare the internet my superfluous information that doesn’t matter. 4,876 miles has no meaningful difference compared to 5,134 miles. I’m pretty good at changing oil within 200 to 300 miles of a 5,000 mile OCI.

Ah, sort of an avg approach.

Any conclusion? Wear metals slightly less with the thinner Kendall?
I believe FS 0W40 starts with 3-4ppm of iron and aluminum so no difference at all. Actually, even if FS doesn’t start with some iron and aluminum, it’s not a significant difference anyway.

SN version has some excellent cleaning capabilities. It could be wash off.
Maybe...I think I've used this for the past 3 or 4 oil changes - there may have been a SuperTech 0W40 in there somewhere - I'd have to look. There's a VOA around here somewhere that showed 3ppm for iron and 1ppm Aluminum for SP version of FS 0W40.

So you guys are saying that new mobil 1 fs 0w-40 bottles on the shelf is no longer the old euro formula? You can't buy that old euro formula anymore?

is this the SN version?

You do know these engines last hundreds of thousands of miles on 0w20, correct?

That said I'm using 5w30 in a 0w20 application currently (Outlander) and 10w30 in a 5w20 application (Navigator) so I can't really say anything ;)
