Hi guys.
Whats the best milage/Time to change mobil 1 0w-40 oil on 2001 year model 2.2L camry? No highway driving,no towing. Just up and down to work doing 35kms a day.(40-70 kmph speed)Temperature in winter 2-10c' in summer 35-42c'
Thanks.
Bob.

5,000km/3 months if you want an awesome looking UOA. 10,000km/6months if you dont mind slightly elevated wear metals. 20,000km/1year max, the oil could probably go longer but that would be limit cos you would have to change your oil filter in any case. Wear metals would probably look horrible. M1 0w40 suffers from oil thinning, so it'll be a nice 30wt by the time you're thru with it.

I completely agree with Ken4. I guess we both are hanging out here too much.

Hi Toyota18,

as you can see I live at Airlie Beach in NQ.
I used to live in NSW at Tahmoor and have an office in Australia Sq so a long commute route

M1 0w-40 will easily do 10kkms (6000 miles)in your car and so will the filter. The newer M1 SS 0w-40 shows excellent viscosity retention and being an A3-B3 oil is ideally suited to the climate, your driving routine, your car and 10kkms OCIs - at least!

Regards
Doug

Without a UOA, 4 cylinder, highway miles, hot temperature ....I'd go with about 8K miles, that's based on some of the 5W-30 UOA's and my 3.0 Accord. I'm curious, are you running the 0W-40 because you are in "thicker is better" crowd or is this a manufacturer requirement?

It's one of only two oils sold in North America that meets GM's new Long Life spec of 2 yrs/30,000 km (does the new Amsoil 5W-40 now also meet this spec?), so a 1 yr/20,000km interval should be acceptable in your engine.

I would say 10-16k km (10k mi) depending on oil condition/consumption. If you're in Syndney Australia, this may be a little thin and you may see increased consumption with this weight.

Ditto.

Saab's FSS said 15-18,000 miles on this or their Saab 0W 30 Turbo oil.
