Hey guys,

Here's another report for my Golf, using VW 502 approved oil this time. I also changed the viscosity to 0W40. The first report was with April Euro 5W40 and the second one was with SuperTech 5W40.

I'm happy the viscosity stayed within spec this time but the wear increased a little bit. I will be testing Liqui Moly 5W40 next.

Thoughts?

No work done. I believe it was caused by the previous pump I used to extract the oil before switching to the one BL sells.
Interesting, I always try to use the drain method due to me thinking that could happen. You've furthered my suspicion. Thanks

The viscosity didn’t stay in spec. It sheared to a 30 grade. A 40 grade oil S/B 12.5-16.29. I don’t go by BlackStone’s “values should be” number.

Typo? Amsoil?

N=1 and all, but seems SuperTech did the best.

The viscosity loss on that first report, given what appears to be an almost complete absence of fuel, is pretty surprising.

Yeah it doesn't look good. I wonder if my mechanic put 5W30 instead of 5W40? The Golf 2.5 can take 5W40 or 5W30.

I just sold my 2009 VW rabbit with 2.5l. It had 314,000 miles on it. 10k oci’s, 110 average highway miles per day, 5 days a week. The only oil ever used was 0w-40 Mobil1 European formula.
