I agree with that 100%. I also tend the think the extra ZDP may be beneficial with the shim and bucket valvetrain.

Outstanding results on your 4Runner. The most oil that I've put in for an oil change is 6 quarts with no add during OCI. If I may ask....What size and make oil filter do you use on your 4Runner?

Thanks

I lost both cats on my old Merc GM using SL oil. Now I can't say that was the cause, but both failed in less than a year of each other. So far no cat failures with SM oil.

My truck has a remote filter adapter that uses a full size Ford Filter. FL1A, Wix 51515 etc. With that setup it holds 6 1/2-7 quarts.

Not to burst your bubble but the 3.4L takes 5.8 qrts...even with an oversized filter 6 qrts will take you slightly past the full mark.

Not to burst your bubble, but as stated, my truck has a remote filter adapter and uses a large Ford filter. I put 7 quarts in it every time I change the oil and it's about 1/3 quart over the full mark when I do.

I've done the same thing for about 90K miles now. Maybe the quarts they sell in the midwest are smaller?

Why run such a thick oil? Ive done a few runs with GC. Butt performance didnt like it. AFE is pretty good.

A agree this engine doesn't need a thick oil. I only tried the CC because it was the BITOG flavor of the month at the time. I was underwhelmed with it in everything I tried it in. I certainly wouldn't scour Autozone shelves reading labels to to find it.

I bought up all the 0W-30 M1R I could find. On closeout it was cheap and it obviously works well. The only reason I mix a quart of 15W-50 in with it is because I had a gallon of it around and wanted to use it up.

Have you done any UOA's on your 3.4 using AFE?
