Mixing up hydraulic fluid with motor oil

So I tend to just put old oil back into the jugs it came in and it's always obvious that's its old because it's black. Well I had a mishap with the tractor when I was trying to do a filter only change and just about all the hydraulic fluid drained out before I could get the new oil filter on. This fluid looks exactly like new motor oil does. After several months, I was questioning if it got mixed up. Old oil on one side of the shop, new on the other, but you can't tell by looking at it now becaise it has nearly new looking oil in the jugs. Usually I also write new on the oil jug if it still has new oil in it. What do you guys do to prevent this kind of mix up? Now I'm going to go a step further and make sure I add some nice black diesel oil to any used hydraulic fluid I have laying around so it's idiot proofed

I rip or scratch up the labels on used oil jugs, so they look ugly in case things get mixed up with the opened new oil as it seem I can never keep a marker around that works!

Don't put used oil in jugs. Use a pail, drum, or tote and set it in a space, and not mixed in with tje other pails, drums or totes.

Labeled so no one else dumps oil and old diesel in the used antifreeze tote. Don't ask how I know.

What jugs for hydraulic oil? I've always bought it in pails or drums.

Have to keep it in something the autoparts store will take
