Just ordered some Redline 5W-20 for use in my wife's '05 Ody for use after break-in. Frankly, I probably would have gone with Mobil 1 5W-20 but it is never in stock in my area.

I don't think this Ody gets much of a work out, probably 50/50 town/hwy not any long bouts of stop and go or towing or mountains, and I'm wondering if just a quart or two with a good dino at a 4.5 qt oil change isn't plenty of protection.

Any advice on a good mix or should I just go straight Redline? I'm going to follow the oil life monitor which probably is around 6k miles.

IMO, a quart would be good - I believe Al here have experimented with this scenario before with very good results. I was going to do the same when Advance Auto started carrying Redline but they dropped the line before I could purchase.

I thought Honda/Acura's oil maintenance light goes strictly by miles?

Yea..its worked out very well for me in a number of oil changes. Right now I have a quart of RL in with 3 quarts of Mobil 1. I'm sold on the process.

I thought I read that Mola or Terry didn't recommend Mobil 1 being mixed with Redline.

Don't know, but there are some nice used oil analysis on this site with this mix.

Guess I'll have to take a drive and find some Mobil 1...

The Honda oil life monitor is not strictly miles by any means.
