Mixing brands of oil.

Here is a post I made in one of the more recent threads on this popular topic where I linked up a few of the other previous threads:

So, all my cars (except the Rio) take 5.2 - 5.3 quarts every OCI. So, each car gets a 5QT dump in of whatever flavor I'm using, plus a squirt extra to get to full line with whatever I have on hand........typically a HM variety like Havoline, where I get a 6 quart box for the Rio. I also have a few quarts of Mobil 1. All good.

No worries as long as it is API rated SP. All my oils are.

EDIT: Just realized this is the HDEO forum. My apologies. I still maintain, however, it's fine. Mix away.

I'd say keep the 55 gallon drum pure and mix all the small randoms and use them in whatever.
To me the whole point of mixing is to use up the oil you have on hand so you don't have to buy more to do a job such as an oil change on a car or small engine.

I would rather not, especially if you are going for extended oil change intervals.

Saying that, I do it often topping off my old Dodge.
