I have some Mobil 1 75-90 and some Mobil 1 75-140. Can I mix them half and half? I would think so since they are both Mobil 1 products but wanted others thoughts. Would it be like a 75-115 in weight?

Thanks

Is there any reason to the mixing, or just wanting to use up extra oil? You can mix those oils regardless of brands, typically.

I mixed them just fine on two of our vehicles two summers ago. One's at 15K the other approaching 27K. Same brands and weights as you have mentioned. Both separate occasions I was just trying to get rid of some leftover 140.

I'm just looking for a little more protection then a 75-90 for towing. I know Amsoil makes a 75-110 but I don't want the expense of their products.

Thanks for your guys help.

I have mixed 1/2 & 1/2 redline 80w-90 and 80w-140....works perfectly as a slight upgrade{thicker} from 90w

Yup, I do the same with Torco RGO mineral based 80W-90 and 85W-140 (in the spring/summer at least).
