Mityvac for coolant extraction

Has anybody had success with this method?

What kind of quantity did you get out compared to a radiator drain?

I have done it. I do not think I got as much out as you would with a radiator drain.

You wont get any heavy junk that settled in the radiator. The stuff visible at the bottom of your expansion tank. Careful, don't scrape the fragile cooling fins.

Some larger junk might not make it through a petcock either. Perhaps the lowest point of the radiator hose is the best spot.

Go look, the petcock should the lowest point on the radiator. No reason to have one if its not. Probably entire engine too. If something is too large for the petcock you have a major problem. The great thing about the petcock is it channels coolant into a container. A hose is a splash that goes everywhere. IMO as easy as a mityvac, with nothing to clean.
