This product has been speculated to be the Citgo Syndurance / Mystik JT-8 5W-40 Full Synthetic repackaged for Fleet Farm. The interesting thing is that the jug is labeled as "CI-4+" rating (CJ-4 is not listed!).

Magnesium: 615
Calcium: 1078
Phosphorus: 975
Zinc: 1024
Viscosity@100degC: 16.2
Acid Number: 2.56
TBN: (not tested; will call about this)
Oxidation: 10
Nitration: 11

Based on this analysis by Polaris Labs (Indianapolis), it certainly would seem to be a CJ-4 oil. Does this lend credence to the speculation of the nature of this oil? With regards to the 16.2 Viscosity at 100degC, I called to talk to the oil analyst about this. According to him, 16.2 cSt is the top end of 40W oil.

I'd say definetly CJ-4. The low Ca combined with Mg detergent is a common combo to meet CJ-4 SA limits.

It's really, really thick for a 5W-40....most are closer to 14cst. This is bordering on being a 50-weight!
