Ahh, that makes sense. Been some really trashy looking oil filter anecdotes posted here with that coo. Add this one to the list.
While the brand "Mighty" might be a "USA Brand" clearly the filters sold are not. smh. I c&p'd a Mighty M4612 (shop installed) last year. It was made by Champ Labs in US and similar to/same as WM Super Tech ST filter. Unlike topic, it looked fine.
I'm thinking between the "USA Brand" label on Mexican made filter, and filter result, "Mighty" more likely stands for, embarrassing.
Poor pleat spacing, paper blend media, filter too small.
Saw this same thing happen on "expensive" filters - but never mesh-backed glass and polymer fibre "synthetic rated" long interval spin-ons - then again, never ran a ton of the premium type.
