A friend of mine has been using Michelin Artic Alpine and X-Ice winter tires for many seasons now. Uses them on Siennas, Camrys, Civics, Pilots etc. Both he and his wife love them. They have even stated that they wouldn't mind running them in the summer also,(if it wasn't a waste of money). Smooth and quiet!

I just bought four Latitude X-Ice 245/70/17 for my 2006 Sierra. I am still using my summer tires, so I have nothing to report on the Michelins.

I bought them from Costco and they took the $100 off right at the cash register. After rebate, the tires worked out to $181 each.

My first choice was the Bridgestone DMZ3 235/75/17 but the $100 rebate and the free flat repair policy at Costco(they do not sell Bridgestones)convinced me to go with Michelins.

The only promotion that Bridgestone has on now is a worthless lottery ticket with each tire purchased.

Got to test 1 week old Michelin X-Ice today in snow (215/50/17 - Scion tC). Overall - Ok, but I am not impressed.
Good traction in snow, but was fishtailing a bit on semi-frozen slush.
I really liked Blizzak ws50, on my old car, (95 Geo Prizm) but it is not apples to apples since the tire sizes and cars are different.

I have a set on the wife's Ford Freestyle and they're impressive. I'd always been a "studded snow tire only" kinda' guy, but, no studdable tires were available in that size (215/65-17 - WHY do they have all these goofy sizes, anyway???), when I needed 'em 2 years ago, so I ended up with the X-Ice's. Definitely an exponential improvement over the OEM Conti's, and very good on ice/hardpack, etc.., but, slushy stuff, as another poster mentioned, cause them some problems. Deep snow isn't their forte either, I guess because of their relatively narrow grooves. Noisy in the dry, too.
