methanol fuel

i know race cars use methanol as fuel. but this looks like a standard made by the government? what think?

In 2011, the Open Fuel Standard Act of 2011 was introduced into Congress to encourage car manufacturers to warrant their cars to burn methanol as a fuel in addition to gasoline and ethanol. The bill is being championed by the Open Fuel Standard Coalition.[citation needed]

Methanol is junky fuel for a passenger vehicle.Its the main ingredient in cheap dry gas.Dries out rubber,rusts steel,separates water (does not absorb it)...whats the government thinking? Like they know cars at all besides sitting in the back seat while their chauffer drives them to Capitol Hill.

Ethanol ain't much better.....epically on small engines.
