mercedes mb 229.5 new?? 0w30 cg

had a chance meeting with a castrol dist.today , and cg 0w30 came up.the rep told me that there is a new mb 229.5 spec...and that he can supply the spec oil,in bulk ie,55 gal drums to fast lube and
merc dealers. it is cg 0w30..ck' my small supply
og cg but the lable only states mb 229.1 and mb229.3 ???

The only oil that I know of that meets 229.5 is Mobil 1 0w40.

Pennzoil has their version too.

Elf has a specific 229.5 available in the US

It's a A3/B3/B4 MB229.5 fuel economy extended drain oil named Excellium 229.5.

Remember, Johnny has told us that both of these oils are nothing more than relabled Shell Helix Ultra AB 5w30, which is one of the 229.5 factory fill oils Mercedes uses.

the castrol rep. stated that the 229.5 spec oil
that can now be supplied to fast lubes and dealers
will 'not' be packaged in anything other than drums.no quarts or gallons.he also stated that they,castrol,have reach an agreement with BMW
for castrol to distribute,to dealers only,5w30 BMW syn oil in drums,which castrol has had the contract for producing.
