What is the Mercedes spec # for the ATF fluid in a 1993 300D with 722.4 transmission? I have read it is Dexron III, is this correct? I'd like to use a synthetic. Also, what is the Mercedes spec # for the oil to be used in the differential? I'd like to use a synthetic here too. Thanks - Brad

Regular 80W-90 hypoid gear lube is typically specified for the differential. Many use Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic.

You could use newer MB ATF 134 fluid in the transmission. It's the specified fluid for the 722.9. We use it on all the 722.6 transmissions, and I was told it is backwards compatible to the earlier transmissions as well. It's expensive though...
