From a vehicle with only 9200 miles on it I'd call that a great report. 7 ppm Iron on an almost new engine- wow! Some of us(like me)are gonna have ro re-think this 5w20 business, I've seen several excellent reports now. Hmmm...I have 5w30 Schaeffer 7000 in my ccar now, I wonder if the 5w20 would be too too thin for my 97 Neon with 187K on it? Mebbe I'll try it next winter.

Another great MC 5W-20 report!

Can anyone show me an oil that does better for the money?

MC5W20....yes it will. It had 5700 miles on it. I would like to use syntec for the life of the vehicle but i had MC 5w20 synblend just sitting in the basement. I was on the highway once during the syntec OCI and do alot of stop and go so i drained it. I actually was debating using the motorcraft oil because i have always used synthetic oil in my vehicles. The UOA on MC 5w20 are some of the best i've seen here so my worries are not proven.

Sorry for the late response, I've been outside the US, for the past 10 days.
I believe 2 of the 6 qts. were indeed SL/SM labeled vintage, and 4 of the later SM.
The analysis was performed in our Engineering Lab, where I'm employed.

Dr. Cpk,

Thanks for sharing this. Butt-kicking results for a vehicle with such low miles, both in wear metals and TBN.
I'm entering your data into my big "list of all Duratec 3 Liter UOA out there" spreadsheet.
What would you like me to put down for lab? I understand you may be unable to disclose your employer, in which case I'll just put down "NR" for not reported in the Lab field on my spreadsheet.
PS - This is a completely trivial data point, but based on my data you're the Boron king out of all the 3L Duratec UOAs out there. Second highest numbers came from a batch of Motorcraft SM run for 6860 miles in an '03 Sable. Ford must like Boron.
