If the pipe line is not flowing by Friday next week would be the best week ever for the electric cars. P,S, I dont like EV cars we get to much power from coal that kinda makes the EV run on coal when our cars are running cleaner then ever on gas.

Yes I just got the last of the gas at the local station here it shut off at $27.12 8 gallons. 🙁. Almost got run over trying to get in the place. This is one time when an electric vehicle would be good but the only time.

The world runs on oil... I believe they will straighten this pipline attack out and the oil will flow.
We love the Tesla and the ICE cars as well. I don't know what I would do without the Tundra.
And the GS eats up the road. And sucks the gas....

The local combined cycle power plant is fed by a natural gas pipeline (the pipeline is actually a pair). It is as vulnerable to problems as any other pipeline. As is the power grid. Not to mention problems of California's insane power outages, which they say will happen again this summer.

The EV's are not a better solution for emergencies. Especially here in Florida where mandatory evacuation may require many hundreds of miles of interstate travel. Having 2 vehicles, a gas one and an EV is probably a great thing for those who can afford it.

I simply can't store or carry 5 gallon jugs of electricity.

Having a reliable electricity grid is vital to pipelines and gas stations as well as EVs, and should be the norm in all 1st-world countries. Why not cut out the middleman?

I think the Chinese is working on it. Battery swap, standardized battery, EV buses charging at night. Their population density is much higher and slow charging everywhere will not work (most of them don't live in single family house with attached garage). Institution own battery as a lease and swap and charging on off peak time would do wonder.

Maybe they can also have incentive to bring charged batteries from one area (near major grid) to another (off grid rural spot) as a way to power rural communities at night. Parking your car you plugged into the parking lot on a mountain top at night to power the village grid, then in the morning drive downhill with 25% charge, park at work, charge it to 80%, go uphill and plug it back in at 50% at night. The village power grid pays for your battery lease and you get a subsidized car.
